The Musket and Pistol Club came about in 1973 when founder member of the club and the club secretary Larry Evans formed what was named then and is still the musket and pistol club.

In those days the members were shooting black powder muskets and rifles. Bisley range was where all the meetings took place and they would share the booking time with another club.

After time it became apparent that Larry and some of the other members were showing an interest in pistols so it was decided that they would break away and go it alone. At some point in time the club moved in to the stone lodge range and made it their own.

Regular target pistol shooting soon gave way to what we all know now to be practical pistol. The club apart from being a regular practical pistol club got in to western action shooting and ran some very successful shoots at the stone lodge ranges in the 90s.

Most of the membership are members who have been members ever since the early days with Larry Evans still the club secretary and along the way we have gained some new members as well.

Today we shoot practical airsoft but maintain all the same disciplines that we embraced in the old days in order to keep safe and to make sure that as far as is possible keep to the spirit of what we have always enjoyed the most. “Practical pistol shooting”.
